Clear, doctor-written guides to the conditions we treat — what they are, the signs to watch for, how they are diagnosed and treated, and what you can do day to day.
Rheumatoid Arthritis
Autoimmune arthritis that inflames the joint lining — usually the same joints on both sides. Early treatment prevents damage.
Psoriatic Arthritis
Arthritis linked to psoriasis that affects joints, skin and nails. Watch for ‘sausage’ fingers and pitted nails.
Ankylosing Spondylitis
Inflammatory back pain that improves with movement and worsens with rest. Exercise and treatment protect the spine.
Osteoarthritis
The most common arthritis — cartilage wear in the knees, hips and hands. Exercise and weight control help most.
Lupus (SLE)
An autoimmune disease of the skin, joints, kidneys and more that comes in flares. Most people lead full lives with good care.
Sjögren's Disease
Lasting dry eyes and dry mouth caused by the immune system, often with tiredness and joint pain.
Inflammatory Myositis
Rare autoimmune muscle inflammation causing weakness in the hips, shoulders and neck. Includes dermatomyositis.
Vasculitis
Inflammation of the blood vessels that can affect the skin, kidneys, lungs and nerves. Early treatment protects the organs.
Takayasu Arteritis
A rare large-artery vasculitis, mostly in young women, that can leave a weak or missing pulse in one arm.
